Lagos Government Shuts Dowen College Over Alleged Improper Waste Disposal

The Lagos State Government has shut down Dowen College in Lekki Phase 1 after discovering that waste materials linked to the school were improperly disposed of.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, described the act as a clear breach of environmental laws and warned that such violations would not be tolerated.
He said the Corps Marshall of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps had been instructed to seal the school premises.
“We will not hesitate to take decisive action against any institution or organisation that flouts our waste management regulations. Lagos must remain clean, safe, and healthy for all residents, and we will ensure enforcement without compromise,” Wahab said.
