Lagos DSVA and NAPTIP Launch Probe into Speed Darlington’s Alleged Confession of Defiling Minor

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) have launched a collaborative investigation into allegations against entertainer Speed Darlington following a viral Instagram Live video.
In the video, spoken in Igbo, Darlington allegedly admitted to defiling a 15-year-old girl at a hotel about ten years ago, describing bloodied sheets and paying N2,000 to hotel staff to replace them.
The DSVA, responding via X, described the video as “disturbing” but noted that the unspecified location of the incident restricts their jurisdiction to Lagos State. They referred the case to NAPTIP, stating, “In keeping with our commitment to justice, we have escalated the matter to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.”

NAPTIP acknowledged the issue on X, questioning if the video was a skit and affirming their partnership with the DSVA, who responded, “We are in this together!” Both agencies have urged the public to provide any information that could assist the investigation.

Public outrage on X, fueled by posts referencing a 2022 incident where Darlington faced accusations of inappropriate behavior toward a 16-year-old girl, has intensified scrutiny.
The DSVA and NAPTIP are diligently investigating, emphasizing Lagos State’s zero-tolerance stance on sexual and gender-based violence and their dedication to safeguarding Nigerian children.
