Lagos Coordinator Calls for Teamwork as 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Begins

The Lagos State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, has emphasized the need for teamwork and professionalism among camp officials ahead of the commencement of the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course scheduled to begin today.

During a pre-camp meeting held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Salmwang urged officials to prioritize unity, discipline, and cooperation to ensure a smooth and successful exercise.

She stressed that officials must function as a cohesive unit, setting aside individual differences in the discharge of their duties.

She charged camp personnel to maintain high ethical standards and serve as role models for incoming corps members, stressing that the conduct of officials will set the tone for the entire orientation experience. She also directed that corps members be given a warm and respectful reception to help dispel any negative impressions they may have formed about the scheme prior to arrival.

Addressing the issue of drug abuse, the Coordinator tasked officials with ensuring that all access points to illicit substances are blocked and that preventive measures are strictly enforced. She noted that the safety and wellbeing of corps members must remain a top priority throughout the duration of the orientation.

Salmwang also reiterated the importance of vigilance and internal security, stating that all officials share the responsibility of monitoring and reporting suspicious activities within the camp.

She issued a firm warning against the use of corporal punishment and inappropriate language, reminding officials that such actions are contrary to the values of the NYSC and must not be tolerated under any circumstance.

In support of the Coordinator’s position, Camp Director Mrs. Yemisi Davidson underscored the importance of unity among officials and unveiled the camp’s operational slogan: “There is Victory in Unity. In Victory, There is Unity.”

Also speaking, the Camp Commandant, Captain A.A. Zarumi, called for mutual respect among personnel, noting that every official has a clearly defined role and that collective cooperation is essential for the overall success of the orientation programme.
