Lagos Camp Director Charges Corps Members on Discipline, Excellence

The Lagos State Orientation Camp Director for the 2025 Batch “B” Stream I of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Itohan Ehimwenma, has called on Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) to uphold discipline and pursue excellence as they begin their national service.

Delivering her first official address during the Morning Meditation session at the Iyana-Ipaja Orientation Camp, Mrs. Ehimwenma described discipline as a non-negotiable requirement for navigating the rigours of the NYSC scheme. She urged Corps Members to see the service year as a call to national duty that demands focus, orderliness, and a commitment to personal and collective growth.

She commended the PCMs for their orderly conduct during the registration process and reminded them that the camp operates within a strict structure where rules are to be respected and obeyed. According to her, compliance with camp protocols is essential for ensuring a productive and transformative experience.

Also speaking during the meditation, the Head of Publicity and Protocol, Mrs. Omolola Aladesoun, delivered the first official reflection titled “Clarion Call.” She emphasised the importance of honesty, patriotism, and active participation in all camp activities, noting that the orientation period is designed to inspire leadership, discipline, and unity among Corps Members.

The meditation session featured interfaith prayers, singing of the NYSC anthem, and physical fitness exercises coordinated by camp officials and the Man ‘O’ War unit.

The orientation course officially commenced nationwide on July 30, with thousands of graduates reporting to camps across the country. In Lagos, the atmosphere was marked by high enthusiasm and readiness for service, as earlier reported by Naija News Today.

Morning Meditation remains a core aspect of the NYSC camp structure, aimed at fostering reflection, unity, and a deepened sense of civic responsibility among participants.
