Lady Seeks Advice After Teen Admirer Scores 325 in JAMB to Win ‘Dating Bet’

A young Nigerian woman has sparked buzz on social media after sharing a surprising twist in what started out as a playful promise to a teenage admirer preparing for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam.
In a now-viral post on X (formerly Twitter), user @tb3l3mab revealed that she jokingly told the younger boy she would consider dating him if he scored above 280 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). To her shock, the teenager surpassed expectations and scored an impressive 325.

Now, the lady finds herself in a moral and emotional dilemma.
According to her post, the boy—who is three years younger—immediately shared his results with her, referring to her as “boo” and implying he expected her to follow through on her word. She responded quickly, expressing her unease and setting boundaries, while also admitting she never imagined he’d actually meet the target.
“I told this guy that if he could get 280 in his UTME, I’d consider dating him. He got 325. He’s 3 years younger than me. WHAT DO I DO???” she wrote.
The tweet has ignited a wave of reactions from Nigerian social media users, who shared a mix of humorous, supportive, and critical opinions.
One user, @misssgoody, quipped:
“Date him and break up after 6 months 😂😂.”
Another, @Dollar_Kerry, offered a more diplomatic solution:
“Get him something nice instead to congratulate him 😂 but tell him he’s just a baby and you can’t date him. Be nice please.”
@TrevoXerr added a humorous twist:
“Three years younger than you? He might handle you with care. Or you mean you want to date someone older who’ll prolly shatter the living feeling outta you.”
