A Nigerian woman who set out to learn Korean just to express her admiration for popular Korean actor Lee Min Ho has ended up securing a job with the Korean government in Nigeria.

The incredible story was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @Nekie_neka, who revealed how what started as a celebrity crush turned into a life-changing career path.

According to her, she initially wanted to learn a few Korean phrases so she could say things like, “Hello, I love your dramas, can I call you oppa, and can I take a picture?” if she ever met the actor.

However, her passion for the language grew stronger. She went on to master Korean, win a national speaking contest, and build a career as a Korean teacher, content creator, interpreter, and influencer—eventually landing a role with the Korean government in Nigeria.

“I currently earn a living because I had a crush on a Korean actor,” she wrote. “I wanted to say something sweet in Korean, so I started learning the language. I ended up winning a speaking contest, becoming a teacher, content creator, interpreter, and now work with the Korean government in Nigeria.”

She confirmed that her inspiration was Lee Min Ho, adding, “It’s the delectably handsome Lee Min Ho. He acted like he was owing rent for 7 years in City Hunter and made me fall completely in love with him. Unfortunately, I haven’t met him yet.”

The story quickly went viral, drawing praise from users who were inspired by how a simple crush turned into a full-blown career.
