Kwara Govt Provides Free Transportation, Ease Financial Burden On University Students.

The Executive Governor of Kwara state, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has directed the Ministry of Business Innovation and Technology to provide buses as free transport palliative for university students, who are returning after Christmas and New Year holidays to their respective campuses.
The initiative was launched on Monday 6th January, 2025 in its bid to ease the burden of transportation costs on returning students of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete and University of Ilorin, Ilorin (UNILORIN). The free transport palliative is meant to cater for all registered students of KWASU and UNILORIN, who are returning to their respective campuses. The buses are stationed at Queen Elizabeth Secondary School at Taiwo , Soludero Park at the Post Office and Shao garage, Ilorin.
This was disclosed by the state commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun through the ministry’s press secretary, Mrs Taibat Baba Adams.
The Commissioner noted that the State government is committed to supporting the educational pursuits of its citizens, describing the free transport palliative as a demonstration of its commitment.
Speaking with Asiwaju Media Online, Abdulsomad Alada , A 400 level student of Agriculture, University of Ilorin commended the initiative of the state government.
“I boarded the free bus palliative and it was around 7:30 AM at the post office, not only the students, the members of staff were also picked at various destinations. It’s a nice initiative I must say only if such an initiative will not have a long lasting effect on the state economy.” he applauds
Imam Ahmad Aishah, A 300 level student of Medical Laboratory Science, Kwara State University Malete (KWASU) also applauded the initiative of the state government adding that she left for school before it commence but it was a very welcome development.
Hon. Damilola advised the returning students to take advantage of this opportunity and report to their respective campuses on time, adding that this is a special measure, specifically put in place for them.
