Kudimata, NNPC Enlightens Lagos Corps Members On Financial Literacy

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Foundation has partnered with KudiMata to enlighten The NYSC 2024 Batch B Stream II corps members on financial literacy.
Kudimata is a financial community dedicated to empowering individuals through training, education, support, connection, and promotion of financial literacy.
During the zoom session, a representative from Kudimata explained the concept of money, highlighting that its value goes beyond physical cash. The representative pointed out that anything with exchange value, including personal attributes like skills, knowledge, and ideas, can be considered a form of currency.
“It is beyond physical cash or currency – it is knowledge, experience, skills that can be exchanged as value,” he said.
Kudimata’s representative also emphasised the crucial role of the mind in achieving financial intelligence. He stressed that success as an entrepreneur, graduate, or in any field begins with one’s mindset and perception of money and finance.
“Who you are begins to affect the way you see money and spend money.”
“How to earn money starts from having an intelligent mind, money is not a currency but anything that can be exchanged for value (knowledge, experience, relationship). Build your capacity for earning because the amount of capacity or solutions you have determines the amount of money you can earn,” he said.
Additionally, the representative from Kudimata spoke on essential aspects of financial intelligence, including savings, budgeting, and debt management. He also provided an overview of various financial options, covering types of accounts, banks, and financial institutions.
The corps members were also enlightened by Kathleen Erhimu, CEO of Kudimata Nig Limited.
Finally, they advised corps members to start acquiring new skills or trades, building their capacity, and setting Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound (SMART) goals.
Mrs. Nweke Stella Talatu, Head of SAED, urged corps members to download the app and commence the training, emphasizing that successful completion would lead to certification, empowerment, and eligibility for grants.
