Kogi Governor Visits Pencom DG, Reaffirms Support for Pension Reforms

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has pledged his administration’s continued support for pension reforms during a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom), Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, in Abuja on August 15, 2025.
Congratulating Ms. Oloworaran on her recent appointment, Governor Ododo described her as “a proud daughter of Kogi State” and assured her of his unwavering backing. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to prioritizing pensioners’ welfare, citing ongoing measures to clear outstanding liabilities and ensure the regular disbursement of gratuities.
The Governor noted that his advocacy for pension reforms predates his assumption of office, stressing that safeguarding the dignity of retirees remains a key focus of his administration.
In her response, the PenCom Director-General praised Governor Ododo’s dedication to pensioners and acknowledged his efforts in tackling long-standing challenges in the sector. She expressed the Commission’s readiness to work with the Kogi State Government to strengthen pension administration and protect the interests of workers and retirees.
The meeting ended with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to building a transparent and sustainable pension system that guarantees financial security for workers after retirement.
