Kemi Badenoch Recalls How Reporting A Classmate For Cheating Led To His Expulsion

British politician Kemi Badenoch has shared a story from her school days in Nigeria, recalling how a classmate was expelled after she reported him for cheating during an examination.
Speaking in a recent interview, Badenoch revealed that she had a reputation for being the “tattletale” in class, as she strongly disliked dishonesty and was determined to maintain fairness.
She recounted that at about 14 or 15 years old, she noticed a boy copying notes during an exam. Determined to act, she stood up in the middle of the exam hall and pointed him out to the invigilators. The student was later expelled from the school.
Badenoch noted that the incident did not earn her praise at the time. Despite being a relatively popular student, some classmates were upset by her actions and questioned why she would expose the boy.
“I hated cheating because I wanted to be first in the class and had done all the work. Why should others get away with copying?” she explained. “People told me I didn’t belong, that I didn’t know how to behave, that I was too direct and told the truth when I should have stayed quiet. But it was the right thing to do — I was the only one who had the guts to do it.”
