Kebbi Governor Suspends Health Commissioner Over Alleged Negligence

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has ordered the immediate suspension of the Commissioner for Health, Yunusa Musa Ismail.

The move, according to the governor, became necessary after the commissioner was directed to provide a detailed explanation for alleged negligence of duty and failure to uphold the responsibilities of his office.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by Yahayya Sarki, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, who confirmed that the suspension would remain in place until further notice.

Governor Idris stressed that his administration would continue to prioritise accountability, discipline, and effective service delivery. He further noted that public office holders must “earn and maintain public trust.”

Although no official reason was publicly cited, the development comes in the wake of mounting criticism over the state of Kebbi’s health sector by social media commentators. The influencers, who were briefly arrested before being released amid public backlash, had accused the government of neglecting the health system.
