Joe Igbokwe Backs Oshiomhole, Slams Nigerian Airlines Over Alleged Extortion

All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, has voiced strong criticism against Nigerian domestic airlines over what he described as recurring cases of extortion and passenger mistreatment.
Reacting to the recent clash between Senator Adams Oshiomhole and Air Peace, Igbokwe shared his own past ordeal, echoing the lawmaker’s frustration with airline misconduct.
On Wednesday, Oshiomhole accused Air Peace of deliberately exploiting passengers. He alleged that the airline prevented him and others from boarding a flight from Lagos to Abuja despite having completed online check-in. According to him, only passengers who paid double the ticket price for emergency service were allowed to board.
“I got to the airport with my ticket, but they denied me. Somebody recognized me and alerted them. The senior manager came out and said, ‘Oga, let’s see how I can sort you out.’ I said, ‘No, I don’t want personal favors,’” Oshiomhole recounted.
In response, Air Peace claimed the senator disrupted operations at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall).
Supporting Oshiomhole’s claims, Igbokwe took to Facebook, describing the situation as a long-standing issue.
“We play too much in this country. What HE Adams Oshiomhole discovered has been a reoccurring decimal for years now. I was once a victim, and I made public my encounter with them on my trip to Enugu,” he wrote.
The incident has sparked broader conversations online about airline accountability and the treatment of passengers in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
