Iyabo Ojo Blasts Tanzanian Activist Mange Kimambi for Calling Out Daughter Priscilla Ojo

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has publicly defended her daughter, Priscilla Ojo, following criticism from Tanzanian activist Mange Kimambi, who urged the young influencer and her husband, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, to stay off social media during Tanzania’s tense election period.

Kimambi, who is known for her political activism, accused the couple of posting “stupid content” that could distract citizens from the country’s ongoing political struggle. She claimed their romantic displays were playing into the hands of the government, which she believes wants to shift public attention away from urgent issues.

In a fiery Instagram post, Iyabo Ojo slammed Kimambi’s remarks, calling them disrespectful and out of line. She wrote:

I’m appalled by your audacity! Referring to my daughter and her husband in such a manner, calling their content stupid, trying to drum fear and intimidation — this is unacceptable. As a parent, I’ve taught her to be confident and authentic. The Mkambala are very peaceful, but note I don’t joke with my daughter.”

Addressing speculation that the couple’s wedding was state-sponsored, she clarified:

“Regarding the wedding rumors, it’s not your government who gave us money. It’s a cultural tradition in my family — the wife’s family covers the costs. I wanted an elaborate wedding for my daughter in Nigeria, and we Nigerians gave her one.”

Iyabo, who described herself as an activist with firm principles, criticized Kimambi’s approach to advocacy.

“I’m an activist, and as one, I stand by my principles and fight for what I believe in, without insulting anyone or targeting anyone. True leadership requires presence and courage. It’s laughable that you, living in America, think you can dictate to my daughter and her husband, who are living their lives in Tanzania.”

She ended with a stern warning:

“Keep my daughter out of your affairs. She’ll post what she likes, when she likes, and how she likes. She doesn’t need you to love her. She is very loved and well loved.
We protect our own… Never forget that.”

Iyabo Ojo’s statement has sparked conversations across social media, with many applauding her for standing up for her daughter while others debated the intersection of activism, celebrity culture, and national responsibility.
