Iyabo Ojo Addresses Police Invitation, Threats And Fire Outbreak, Clarifies Position On Mohbad’s Death

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has issued a detailed statement addressing her recent invitation by the Nigeria Police Force, threats to her life, and the fire outbreak that affected her business premises, all in connection with her campaign for justice over the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
In a post titled “For Public Records,” shared on Instagram, Ojo confirmed she was recently invited by the National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja over petitions related to a live video she recorded years ago. In the video, she had urged certain individuals to present themselves for questioning in connection with Mohbad’s death.
She clarified that her call was not an accusation but part of a broader push for justice, supported by official letters from her NGO, Pinkies Foundation, sent to the Lagos State Governor, Attorney General, Commissioner of Police, and other authorities. The letters requested an independent investigation and a coroner’s inquest.
Ojo noted that she had met with key stakeholders including the then Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, the late Deputy Commissioner of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, Ayilara, and members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, to advocate for a thorough probe.
She emphasized that she never interfered with the police process and does not have the power to dictate how investigations are carried out.
However, she decried the personal cost of her advocacy, revealing that she and her children have faced continuous threats, including a letter sent to her office days before her daughter’s wedding in Tanzania, warning her of “hell” in the coming months.
“I now see coffins inscribed with my name, videos openly threatening my life and property, and more signs that my family and business are at risk,” she wrote.
Ojo also attributed part of the hostility to her political views during the last elections, noting that her honest personal opinions had exposed her to intimidation and targeted attacks.
She reiterated that she never accused anyone of killing Mohbad but was only reacting emotionally to disturbing videos circulating at the time. She stressed that all her actions were carried out through proper legal channels and at her own expense.
On the recent fire incident that destroyed her office, she appealed for time to recover emotionally and physically while expressing readiness to continue cooperating with police investigations.
“I am fully ready to honor further police invitations or arraignments, as I have always done,” she wrote.
The actress concluded by thanking the police, friends, and supporters who have stood by her regardless of tribe, religion, or differing opinions.
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but God will deliver me from them all,” she added.
