Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has ordered fresh strikes on Tehran following what he described as a violation of a ceasefire agreement brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump.

In a statement on Tuesday, Katz claimed that Iranian forces launched missiles at Israel just hours after Trump declared a ceasefire aimed at ending nearly two weeks of intense hostilities.

“In light of Iran’s blatant violation of the ceasefire declared by the President of the United States, I have directed the IDF to continue high-intensity operations targeting regime assets and terror infrastructure in Tehran,” Katz announced.

However, Iran swiftly denied the accusation. State-linked media outlet Nour News quoted the Iranian armed forces as saying no missiles had been launched toward Israel in recent hours. Both the Foreign Ministry and military officials insisted they were observing the ceasefire.

The truce, announced by Trump on his Truth Social platform, was meant to conclude 12 days of direct conflict that began on June 13, when Israel launched a surprise strike targeting Iranian nuclear and missile facilities.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared victory following the ceasefire, stating that Israel had achieved its key objectives, including weakening Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

“Israel thanks President Trump and the United States for their support in defence and their participation in eliminating the Iranian nuclear threat,” Netanyahu said.

Iran’s leadership, however, framed the situation differently. The Supreme National Security Council claimed Israel was forced into a ceasefire by Iran’s military pressure. Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi noted that Iran was ready to suspend its retaliation if Israel halted its attacks by 4:00 a.m. local time.

With both sides presenting opposing narratives and tensions once again rising, the future of the ceasefire remains highly uncertain.
