Iran Launches Massive Missile Strike on Israel in Escalation Titled ‘Operation True Promise 3’

In a major escalation in the Middle East, Iran has confirmed it launched a large-scale missile attack on Israel, firing what it called “dozens of ballistic missiles” at military bases and airfields across the country.
The assault, dubbed Operation True Promise 3 by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), represents one of the most direct and aggressive confrontations between the two longtime adversaries in recent years.
Israel’s Defense Forces (IDF) reported multiple rocket barrages overnight, triggering widespread interceptions and explosions across central Israel—including Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv metropolitan area.
According to the BBC, air raid sirens sent residents scrambling into shelters as the skies lit up with blasts. Emergency services confirmed at least five injuries in Tel Aviv—one moderate and four minor—from shrapnel. Paramedics were dispatched to seven separate impact sites in the Dan Bloc region.

The IRGC has yet to disclose the full scale of the operation or the extent of damage inflicted, but promised more details in upcoming briefings. Meanwhile, Iranian state media claimed two Israeli fighter jets were downed over Iranian airspace—a claim not yet independently verified.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had earlier warned of severe retaliation against what he called Israeli “acts of war,” vowing to deliver “heavy blows.”
The IDF acknowledged the ongoing nature of the assault, saying its air defense systems remain engaged. “The shooting continues. Another barrage of dozens of rockets was launched toward Israel,” the military said in a statement.

Footage captured by Reuters showed dramatic flashes and explosions above Jerusalem, with residents describing the scene as “a warzone.”
As the situation rapidly unfolds, international concern is mounting over the possibility of a broader regional war. Calls for urgent diplomatic intervention are already growing as the world watches closely.
