INEC to Commence Nationwide Voter Registration August 18

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the 2025 Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will officially begin across the country on August 18.
INEC made the disclosure in a post shared via its official X handle on Friday, confirming that the process will kick off with the launch of its online pre-registration portal on August 18. According to the announcement, eligible voters can complete the initial registration step by visiting cvr.inecnigeria.org.
The Commission added that physical, in-person registration will commence a week later on August 25. This phase of the exercise will take place at all INEC local government offices and designated registration centres nationwide.
The voter registration exercise, INEC said, will be conducted on weekdays—Monday to Friday—between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
“Your votes start with registration. Don’t miss your opportunity to register,” the Commission stated in the post, encouraging Nigerians to participate in the crucial electoral process.
