IGP Mourns Buhari, Attends Burial in Daura with Top Dignitaries

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has extended heartfelt condolences to the Federal Government, the government and people of Katsina State, and the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his passing as a monumental national loss.
This was revealed in a statement on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
The IGP, on behalf of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, noted that the late President Buhari served Nigeria with unwavering dedication, courage, and integrity—both as a military leader and a democratically elected president—leaving behind a legacy defined by discipline, patriotism, and service to the nation.
In a show of respect, IGP Egbetokun personally led a delegation of senior police officers to Daura, Katsina State, where he joined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, traditional rulers, political leaders, and other prominent Nigerians for the burial rites of the former president, conducted in accordance with Islamic tradition.
The statement further noted that the Nigeria Police Force joins the nation in mourning, and prays for the peaceful repose of Buhari’s soul. The IGP also urged Nigerians to embrace the values of leadership, accountability, and national unity that the late leader exemplified throughout his lifetime.
