ICPC Tasks Corps Members On Anti-Corruption, Says Youths are Critical to National Reform

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering Nigerian youths in the fight against corruption, describing them as a critical segment of society capable of driving national reform.
This was emphasized by ICPC Superintendent Ade-Adams during a sensitization lecture at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos, for 2025 Batch A Stream II corps members.
Addressing the corps members, Ade-Adams stressed that the Commission recognizes the strategic role of young Nigerians in reshaping the country’s moral foundation. She noted that the ICPC is deeply invested in educating and equipping them to identify, resist, and report corrupt practices in all forms.
“Youths are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are key players today in the fight against corruption,” she said, while explaining that corruption—whether through bribery, undue favours, dishonesty, or falsification of records—continues to weaken national development.
She also warned against subtle forms of corruption, including corps members running errands for officials in exchange for preferential treatment, calling for a shift in mindset and commitment to integrity.
Ade-Adams further identified systemic lapses, weak institutions, and the erosion of societal values as core drivers of corruption, urging corps members to remain vigilant and lead sensitization campaigns both online and offline.
The event is part of ICPC’s broader initiative to instill anti-corruption values among Nigerian youths and position them as frontline defenders of accountability and transparency.
