Gunmen Abduct Father of Former Ebonyi Deputy Governor

Gunmen have kidnapped Chief Francis Igwe, the father of former Ebonyi State Deputy Governor, Dr. Barr. Kelechi Igwe.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning in Ndufu-Alike community, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, as the elder statesman was reportedly on his way to church.

Sources disclosed that Chief Igwe was driving when armed men riding a motorcycle intercepted his vehicle. The assailants allegedly double-crossed him, forced him out of his car, and whisked him away to an undisclosed location using their motorcycle.

Confirming the development, the Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, Sunday Nwankwo, said the council is collaborating with security agencies to gather relevant information and ensure the victim’s safe rescue.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, Joshua Ukandu, were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages sent to his phone had not been responded to at the time of filing this report.
