Governor Oborevwori Transforms Ughelli-Asaba Road After Two Decades

Residents of Delta State erupted in jubilation following the completion of the long-awaited dualization of the Ughelli-Asaba road, a project that had remained a source of hardship for commuters for over 20 years.
The road, which had earned a reputation as one of the most deplorable in the state, has now been reconstructed and expanded into a smooth dual carriageway, courtesy of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration. The completed project has sparked widespread celebration across affected communities, with many describing it as a major relief from decades of frustration and infrastructural decay.
Eyewitnesses reported scenes of joy and excitement as residents sang, danced, and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the governor. Elderly men and women, youths, and children reportedly gathered along the stretch of the road to celebrate what they described as a long-overdue intervention.
According to Ossai Ovie Success, a government aide who witnessed the reaction firsthand, the emotional outpouring was overwhelming. He recounted how community members hailed the governor for ending their years of suffering.
“This road has been our worst nightmare for decades,” one resident said. “We are thankful to Governor Oborevwori for finally setting us free.”
Children were also seen running around joyfully, chanting that their parents now go to farm and return home early due to the improved road conditions.
The Ughelli-Asaba road, a critical route linking various communities and serving as a key economic corridor, had previously been in a state of disrepair, often causing severe traffic delays, accidents, and economic setbacks. Its transformation is seen as a significant milestone in Governor Oborevwori’s infrastructure development agenda.
Community leaders and residents have applauded the governor’s commitment to delivering meaningful projects, describing the road as a “lifeline” that will boost commerce, improve transportation, and enhance the overall quality of life in the area.
The project stands as one of the administration’s most impactful achievements so far, underscoring the governor’s pledge to improve infrastructure and ensure inclusive development across Delta State.
