Governor Nwifuru Pushes for Job-Ready Graduates in Higher Education

Governor Ogbonnaya Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has emphasized the importance of higher institutions producing employable graduates.
During a courtesy visit by the management of Evangel University, Ebonyi State, Governor Ogbonnaya Nwifuru commended their efforts in education.
“I will continue to reiterate, that our institutions must strive to produce employable graduates. Because some of the courses offered in our Universities today, neither provide immediate jobs nor skills for the graduates. Our higher institutions can only be exceptional when we achieve this.”
He highlighted the disconnect between some university courses and the immediate job market, insisting that exceptional institutions must address this gap for their graduates to thrive.
Despite being offered an honorary Doctor of Science degree, he humbly declined, stating that he doesn’t consider himself worthy until he fulfills his mandate to the people of Ebonyi.
“I was delighted as well, to have received a notification from them, conveying their intention to adorn me with a degree – Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa).”
“However, I do not deem myself worthy of such honour yet, as I have not satisfactorily discharged the mandate handed to me by Ebonyi people. When we have satisfied the conscience of our people with our performance after our administration, I will then have a platform on which to stand and welcome such honours.” He added
