Governor Adeleke Defends His Love for Dancing, Says It Doesn’t Affect Governance

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has pushed back against critics who ridicule his fondness for dancing, asserting that his public displays of joy should not be mistaken for a lack of commitment to leadership.
Speaking at a recent event, the governor addressed ongoing criticism surrounding his frequent dancing, which often trends on social media. He emphasized that dancing is simply a personal form of expression that does not interfere with his duties.
“Don’t judge me for expressing my happiness through dance,” Adeleke said. “It brings me joy, it’s part of who I am, and it hurts no one. There’s no reason it should be condemned.”
Nicknamed the “Dancing Governor,” Adeleke pointed out that he is not the only Nigerian politician who enjoys dancing in public, yet seems to attract disproportionate criticism.
“Governor Sanwo-Olu dances. Even Baba—President Bola Tinubu—dances. There’s no law that says a governor mustn’t dance,” he remarked.
Adeleke urged the public to evaluate his administration based on its accomplishments, not his personal interests.
“Focus on my governance, not my hobbies,” he concluded.
