Full List Of Subjects In Nigeria’s New School Curriculum Set To Begin September 2025

The full list of subjects in Nigeria’s newly introduced school curriculum has surfaced online after Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, shared it on Wednesday.
Olusegun posted an unsigned image on his X handle, stating it contains the new subjects for Junior Secondary School (JSS) and Senior Secondary School (SSS).
“The new curriculum for Nigerian schools, which will commence from the next session in September 2025, has been released,” he wrote.
Unveiled by the Federal Government on Sunday, the curriculum makes digital literacy and basic entrepreneurship compulsory at the JSS level, while programming, artificial intelligence, and additional languages are featured prominently at the SSS level.
JUNIOR SECONDARY (JSS 1–3)
- Mathematics & Measurement: Numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, proportions, rates, geometry, algebra, statistics, graphs, measurement units.
- English Language: Essay writing, advanced grammar, comprehension, vocabulary, debates, speeches, drama.
- Integrated Science: Physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, technology, lab safety.
- Digital Literacy & Coding: Microsoft Office tools, internet research, coding (Python, Scratch), robotics basics.
- Social Studies: Nigerian and African history, geography, civics, trade, entrepreneurship basics, global issues.
- Languages: Mother tongue and conversational fluency in French or Arabic.
- Creative Arts: Drawing, painting, crafts, drama, film basics, music.
- Physical & Health Education: Sports, nutrition, reproductive health, first aid, drug abuse awareness.
SENIOR SECONDARY (SS 1–3)
- Mathematics & Advanced Applications: Algebra, trigonometry, calculus basics, probability, statistics, financial mathematics.
- English & Communication: Academic writing, literary analysis, world literature, research, public speaking, journalism, fact-checking.
- Sciences: Physics, chemistry, biology, biotechnology, environmental science.
- Technology & Innovation: Programming (Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS), data science, AI & robotics, cybersecurity, digital entrepreneurship.
- Social Sciences: Government, law, economics, African and world history, philosophy, entrepreneurship.
- Languages: Advanced mother tongue literature and fluency in French, Arabic, or Chinese.
- Creative Arts & Innovation: Fine arts, music, drama, film, media production.
- Physical & Health Education: Advanced sports, mental health, first aid and CPR, leadership.
- Research & Project Work: Final-year project including data collection, analysis, presentation, and defense.
