Former PDP Spokesperson, NCN Unfazed in Prison: I Stand Firm, Not Regretting

Nwoba Chika Nwoba, the former spokesperson of the People’s Democratic Party in Ebonyi, has expressed that he harbors no regrets about his incarceration and will not compromise his principles.
Mr Nwoba made these remarks from Abakaliki Prison where he is currently awaiting the adjourned date for his bail application next week.
He acknowledged the support from friends, family, allies, and political colleagues, citing an example of Afikpo Chic who sent N300k without solicitation.
“I appreciate the care and concern shown by my supporters. Please reassure those who may think I’ve been abandoned that I’m not,” he emphasized.
Asserting his contentment with the situation, Nwoba stated, “I’m not regretting my presence here. I receive overwhelming support openly and discreetly. This isn’t my first time in prison.”
He elaborated, “I’ve only been here for two weeks. Previously, I spent over a month in Afikpo prison and emerged stronger and more popular. I urge my supporters to carry on with their lives; I’m fine here.”
Addressing concerns about his appearance and mindset, Nwoba declared, “Do I appear disheveled? Do I seem troubled? Rather than apologize to those who brazenly stole from the people of Ebonyi, I’d choose to stay here for a year. This is a battle fueled by my love for my state. I’ll be out soon.”
He reassured his supporters, “I greet you all and affirm that I won’t compromise my principles. I won’t engage in any agreements for release. I’m armed with facts and won’t stoop low.”
Background
Nwoba Chika Nwoba, a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, was arrested by the state police command for exposing the alleged embezzlement of N3 billion by the state’s Commerce and Industry Commissioner, Oguzo Offia Nwali.
Nwoba was remanded in prison custody following his arrest in Anambra State.
The former spokesperson was arraigned on three counts of charges, including a threat to life, publication of false information, and false allegations. The charges were read to him, and his lawyer made an oral bail application, which was opposed by the police counsel.
The Magistrate ruled that the matter should be addressed in the High Court, remanding Nwoba at the Abakaliki Correctional Service until then.
