Former Controller of Works murdered on New Year’s Day, Police launch investigation

The Kwara State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the tragic murder of a retired Controller of Works at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, AbdulRazaq Ajani, who was attacked and killed at his residence in the Tanke area of Ilorin on January 1, 2025.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Toun Ejinre-Adeyemi, the command assured the public that detectives are working tirelessly to uncover the circumstances surrounding the heinous crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Yes, the incident happened. I can confirm to you that there was a report that a retired Controller of Works was killed in Tanke area on Wednesday. Police have waded into the incident and have commenced investigation on it
The statement expressed heartfelt condolences to the Ajani family, praying for divine comfort and strength during the difficult time.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 3 pm, a few minutes after Controller of Works ,Ajani and his family returned from Offa, their home town, where they had gone to celebrate the New Year.
Ajani was reportedly trailed to his home by four young individuals who carried out the attack. The police reiterated their commitment to ensuring that those responsible for the crime face the full force of the law.
