Former APC National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun Joins ADC

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Oyegun received his ADC membership card on Tuesday in Benin City, Edo State, during a registration ceremony presided over by the party’s state chairman, Kennedy Odion.
While presenting the card, Odion praised Oyegun’s experience in building political coalitions, noting his pivotal role in the formation of the APC in 2013, which led to the defeat of then-President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 general elections.
“He has successfully built a coalition before,” Odion said. “Once you understand the formula, it’s easier to apply it again. He’s from Edo State, the heartbeat of the nation, and we are moving this new coalition forward with him. He also chaired the implementation committee that selected ADC as the platform.”
Speaking after his registration, the former Edo State governor said the ADC was chosen after thorough consultations with several political parties.
“We engaged with about seven parties, up until the very last minute,” Oyegun said. “We submitted our report and recommended ADC. Some wanted us to keep talking to others, so we delayed the decision for another two weeks. But after further discussions, we came back to ADC. We simply didn’t find another party as committed to the interests of Nigerians as the ADC.”
