First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Urges Birthday Well-Wishers to Support National Library Project

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged friends, well-wishers, and associates to channel their goodwill for her upcoming 65th birthday into contributions toward completing the long-delayed National Library project.
In a video message released on Monday, Mrs. Tinubu said she would mark her birthday on Sunday, September 21, 2025, with quiet reflection and thanksgiving to God. She appealed to admirers to forgo the usual cards, cakes, flowers, or newspaper greetings.
“I wish to appeal to those who would like to send a birthday card, cakes, flowers, greetings in the newspapers or gifts, to kindly send the funds to the designated account for a special project close to my heart, among others, the completion of the National Library. This will be the best birthday present I could receive,” she said.
The First Lady explained that her lifelong passion for education motivated the initiative, noting that the project represents a critical investment in Nigeria’s intellectual and cultural development.
She said the effort will be coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Education under the banner #Oluremi@65EducationFund.
“By the special grace of God, I will be turning 65 years old on the 21st of September 2025, which happens to be a Sunday. I have therefore decided to dedicate the day to God for all His blessings in my life and have a quiet birthday,” she added.
Mrs. Tinubu stressed that education remains one of the most enduring legacies a nation can leave its people, and that the completed National Library will serve as a lasting symbol of Nigeria’s commitment to learning and research.
She thanked Nigerians in advance for supporting the cause, saying, “Thank you for joining me in this building project. God bless you.”
