Fire guts Ladipo, Owode Onirin markets in Lagos

Fire has devastated the well-known Ladipo Market in Mushin and the Owode Onirin Market along Ikorodu Road, Lagos, causing damage worth millions of naira.
Media reports indicate that the fire began at midnight on Tuesday, quickly spreading through several shops and warehouses filled with mechanical tools, vehicle spare parts, motorcycles, and household electrical appliances.
Margaret Adeseye, the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the incidents, stating that emergency response teams from Isolo, Bolade, and Alausa Fire Stations were promptly deployed to control the blaze.
Adeseye noted that firefighters were able to contain the fire despite facing significant challenges in accessing the affected areas.

Another fire broke out at the Owode Onirin Market, impacting multiple shops that sell metallic materials.
According to Adeseye, firefighters from the Alausa and Ikorodu Fire Stations arrived promptly to address the situation and extinguish the flames.
She emphasized that no casualties were reported in either incident, adding that investigations are ongoing to determine the causes of the fires.
