FG Pushes Ahead with 250-Unit Renewed HOPE Estates in 12 States

The Federal Government has kicked off construction of 250 housing units under the Renewed Hope Estate scheme in 12 states across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, made the announcement during an inspection visit to the ongoing Renewed Hope City and Estate project in Lambu, Kano State on Friday.
He revealed that similar projects will soon commence in the remaining 24 states, saying efforts are underway to expand the scheme nationwide and ensure more Nigerians have access to affordable housing.
In addition to the estates, Arc. Dangiwa disclosed that the government is also developing seven Renewed Hope Cities—one in each geopolitical zone and the FCT. The cities in Kano, Lagos, and the Federal Capital Territory are already at advanced stages, while work in the North East, North Central, South South, and South East zones will begin shortly.
The Minister applauded the contractors working on the Kano site for maintaining progress despite delays in payments. “I urge you not to despair, as all your payments would be made as soon as practicable,” he assured.
He further reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving the outstanding payments. “Housing provision is in the priority list of this administration. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu intends to bridge the housing gap in Nigeria by making housing available and affordable to all categories of Nigerians,” he said.
Arc. Dangiwa and his team—including the Minister of State, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Yusuf Ata, and several directors from the Ministry—also visited the site of the proposed 2,000-unit Renewed Hope City in Kano. The larger development is being executed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.
While commending the level of progress on the site, the Minister urged the developers to meet the completion target of August 2025.
