Federal Government’s Next-Gen RESCO Initiative for Nigerians

The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced the NEXT GEN RESCO Program, a strategic initiative designed to bridge the skills gap in the renewable energy sector and cultivate young leaders equipped to drive the nation’s clean energy future.
This 12-month program is a collaborative effort involving the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), and the Ecological Innovation Empowerment Initiative (EIEI).
Program Overview:
The NEXT GEN RESCO Program aims to develop a new generation of skilled professionals in Nigeria’s renewable energy industry. Over the course of a year, 60 selected participants will engage in comprehensive training that encompasses both technical expertise and leadership development.
The program offers:
- Intensive Training: Participants will receive in-depth education on renewable energy systems, ensuring a solid foundation in the technical aspects of the field.
- Leadership Development: The curriculum includes modules designed to enhance leadership and interpersonal skills, preparing participants to take on pivotal roles in the industry.
- Hands-On Experience: Through partnerships with leading companies in the renewable energy sector, participants will gain practical experience, working on real-world projects that address current energy challenges.
- Networking Opportunities: The program facilitates interactions with industry leaders, policymakers, and other key stakeholders, providing a platform for participants to build valuable professional networks.
Eligibility Criteria:
To ensure inclusivity and equal opportunity, the program has established the following eligibility requirements:
- Educational Qualifications: Applicants must be graduates with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5.
- Professional Experience: Candidates should have no more than two years of post-graduate work experience.
- Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Applicants should demonstrate strong leadership capabilities and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Encouragement of Female Applicants: The program strongly encourages female graduates to apply, promoting gender diversity within the renewable energy sector.
- NYSC Members: Individuals currently serving in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Abuja are also eligible to apply.
