FCT Police Order Arrest Of Woman Accused Of Abusing 14-Year-Old Maid In Abuja

The Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory, Adewale Ajao, has ordered the immediate arrest of a woman accused of severely abusing and starving a 14-year-old girl identified as Bashariya.
The directive came after a disturbing video went viral online, showing Bashariya recounting her ordeal in Hausa and revealing multiple injuries on her body.
According to the teenager, who hails from Zamfara State, she ended up in Abuja after her family fled bandit attacks and took shelter in an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Gwiwa Eka. She said she was hired as a domestic help under the promise of a better life in the capital.
Instead, Bashariya alleged she was regularly beaten, starved, and even burned by her guardian. The viral clip showed visible scars and burn wounds on her body, sparking widespread outrage.
FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the development and said the Commissioner had immediately responded to the video by instructing all Divisional Police Officers in the territory to trace and apprehend the woman responsible.
She assured the public that the police are actively investigating the matter and committed to ensuring justice is served.
