The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the arrest of suspected receivers of stolen vehicles and the recovery of four vehicles in separate operations.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by SP Josephine Adeh, ANIPR, Police Public Relations Officer.

According to the Command, the first case was reported on July 23, 2025, when one Mrs. Okanemhen informed the Jabi Police Division that her driver, Abubakar Nuhu, of Magana Village, Toro LGA, Bauchi State, absconded with her trailer after delivering cement at a factory in Obajana, Kogi State. The trailer, with registration number GWA 40 XC, had three tracking devices removed by the suspect, but a fourth hidden tracker remained active.

Operatives from Jabi Division tracked and recovered the trailer in Kaduna State, arresting the suspect. Investigations showed that all personal identification inscriptions on the vehicle had been erased with black paint to frustrate tracing. The suspect is in custody while efforts continue to apprehend his accomplices.

In a separate operation, detectives attached to the Anti-Car Theft Section and the Scorpion Squad of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) recovered three additional vehicles stolen at different times within the FCT: a white Toyota Hilux (YAB 891 EL); a Toyota Camry, ash colour (butchered); and a Toyota Corolla “bank model” (butchered). While the Hilux was recovered intact, the Camry and Corolla had been dismantled and sold off in parts.

Two suspects—Ikechukwu Iwueze and his accomplice, Amobi (an ex-convict)—were arrested over the receiving and resale of parts from the stolen vehicles. Police said both suspects freely confessed to the crime and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, psc, mnips, commended the swift and coordinated response of the officers. He urged residents to install functional vehicle tracking devices and to conduct proper background checks and verification of employees through the Police before engagement, particularly for sensitive positions.
