An X user, James Omeh commented in response to Reno Omokri’s post on X platform,claimed that South Eastern Nigeria had always come top in public standardized examinations and school attendance.
Reno Omokri posted , Thousands of students in universities all over the Southeast are in school because of President Tinubu’s Student Loan Program, and Peter Obi, who did not build even one nursery, primary, or secondary school and university while he was Anambra Governor for eight years, has said absolutely nothing about this good news. But if one piece of bad news about Nigeria starts circulating, you can trust Peter Obi to rush and post it, regardless of whether it is true or false
Verification :
Nigeria’s southeast had the most promotion rate in the country at primary education level 75% . South-south with 75.15%, north-central and southwest correspond to 64.75% and 58.67% respectively. . The northwest had the least promotion rate at primary education level (49.9%). At junior secondary education level, the south-south (60.93%), southeast (75.51%), and southwest (55.77%) had the highest promotion rate in decreasing order.
The Jamb Statistics has consistently shown that the south-east is gearing up seriously in terms of academics in the last ten years as they have always topped the chart by having the highest enrollments and admissions at state level.

Findings :
National Bureau of Statistics(NBS) revealed that South East region hold the highest literacy rate in Nigeria, averaging 90.00%, followed by the South South at 88.07%, and the South West at 87.63%. Specifically, Imo State leads with an impressive literacy rate of 96.43%.
In 2023, South Eastern Nigeria has the highest primary net attendance at 81% and 97.7% is reported for children aged 5-14. AfricaCheck revealed that Southeastern Nigeria had the least number of children between ages (zero and fifteen).
Further, the data showed that southeastern Nigeria had the highest completion rate for primary and junior secondary education in the country. North-central Nigeria fell far behind the average completion rate in the country. Whereas the average primary school completion rate was 85.7% the region recorded only 63.8% completion rate at primary education level.
Conclusion :
The claim that South East Nigeria has the high rate of Standardized exams and school attendance? is true with most children starting early education by the age of 6.
