Ex-EBSU SUG Secretary Wins Councillorship Primary in Ebonyi

A former Student Union Government (SUG) General Secretary of Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Okpokwu Uchechukwu, has won the primary election under the platform of All Progressive Congress, APC, for the position of councillor representing Urban New Layout Urban Area in Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The primary election was held on Saturday, January 24, as part of the ongoing local council area elections in the state.
Mr Okpokwu emerged victorious after the conclusion of the primary, which involved accredited party delegates from the ward. His victory secures him the party’s ticket ahead of the forthcoming local government council elections.
Speaking after the announcement of the results, Mr Okpokwu expressed joy and appreciation to party supporters and delegates for their confidence in his candidacy. He promised to uphold an open-door policy and ensure transparency in governance if elected.
Supporters of the candidate attributed his emergence to his grassroots political engagement and prior leadership experience, particularly his tenure as SUG General Secretary at Ebonyi State University.
The Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission is currently overseeing the conduct of primary and council elections across the state’s local government areas.
