Esther Okoronkwo Denies Viral Pro-Tinubu Statement After Super Falcons’ Visit

Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has publicly denied a viral quote attributed to her following the team’s recent visit to President Bola Tinubu.
The quote, shared by a pro-government Instagram page, claimed the football star praised the president, saying:
“I saw a completely different person. Caring, kind, with a great sense of humour. He is nothing like what they say. If you meet him, you’ll definitely fall in love with him. May the President succeed.”
However, Okoronkwo, 28, swiftly distanced herself from the statement. Taking to her Instagram story, she wrote:
“Abeg when did I talk this one?” — adding a facepalm emoji to show her disapproval.
The post, which featured her photo alongside President Tinubu’s, triggered mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians calling out the spread of misinformation and the politicization of athletes’ images.
Okoronkwo’s prompt response has been applauded, as it highlights growing concerns over false quotes and the exploitation of public figures for political agendas without their consent.
