Enugu Air Set to Launch Operations July 7, Aims to Become Nigeria’s Regional Aviation Hub

Enugu State’s commercial airline, Enugu Air, is officially set to commence operations on Monday, July 7, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the state’s transportation sector.
According to a statement released by the airline, the official launch ceremony will take place at Akanu Ibiam International Airport and will be attended by top government officials, including the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, along with other dignitaries.
The Enugu State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Obi Ozor, described the airline as a key part of Governor Peter Mbah’s vision for a modern and integrated transport system that positions Enugu as a leading aviation hub in Nigeria.
Enugu Air will begin operations with a fleet of three Embraer jets from the E170 and E190 series, selected for their efficiency, comfort, and reliability on regional routes.
The airline’s inaugural service will feature a triangular route connecting Enugu, Abuja, and Lagos, with expansion plans already in place to include destinations such as Port Harcourt, Owerri, Benin, Kano, and other major Nigerian cities — and potentially beyond.
“With a strong foundation built on innovation and sustainability, Enugu Air is poised to transform regional air travel, boost state pride, and elevate Enugu’s status both nationally and internationally,” said Dr. Ozor.
This launch underscores Enugu State’s commitment to economic development through infrastructure and mobility, offering improved connectivity and promoting tourism and investment across the region.
