Emir of Kano Sanusi Accuses Bayero’s Supporters of Attacking Palace and Removing Gate

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has accused supporters of the deposed 15th Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, of attacking his palace and forcefully removing one of its gates.
In a statement issued by the Kano Emirate Media Team and signed by Sadam Yakasai, it was alleged that Bayero’s supporters launched an attack on the Kofar-Kudu Palace, where Sanusi currently resides.
“They broke the gate and attacked the guards, injuring some of them. They also vandalized police vehicles stationed at the palace,” the statement read.
The Emirate further claimed that Bayero deliberately chose to pass through the palace route—despite alternative roads being available—after leaving his Mandawari residence.
“Aminu deliberately passed through the emir’s palace road instead of taking the proper route from Koki to Nassarawa, and his hoodlums decided to attack Gidan Rumfa,” the statement added.
It also noted that this was not the first time Bayero had taken the same route, alleging it was a calculated move to intimidate residents in the area.
