Eko DisCo Announces 25-Day Power Outage Across Lagos

Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has alerted residents under its network to brace for daily power outages and load shedding starting Monday, July 28, 2025. The planned disruption will last until Thursday, August 21, 2025, running from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
In a notice issued on Friday, EKEDC explained that the outage is necessary to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) carry out vital maintenance on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line — a key infrastructure for power delivery in Lagos and neighboring areas.
“This planned outage by our partner, Transmission Company of Nigeria, will impact supply across our entire coverage area,” EKEDC stated. “We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and appeal to all our valued customers to kindly bear with us.”
Though the company did not list specific areas to be affected, similar outages in the past have disrupted supply in districts such as Lagos Island, Victoria Island, Lekki, Apapa, Festac, and Surulere.
The maintenance project is part of a broader national initiative to strengthen the transmission grid and reduce technical losses across Nigeria’s power sector.
Residents and businesses have been advised to make necessary arrangements, conserve power during peak hours, and consider alternative energy sources where possible.
