Ekiti govt ends ‘work-from-home’ policy

The Ekiti State Government has announced the cancellation of the “Work-From-Home’ policy introduced to alleviate the economic challenges faced by workers in the state.
The decision follows the implementation of the new national minimum wage, which was reflected in the December 2024 salaries of Ekiti State workers. The adjustment was met with widespread jubilation among the workforce.
In a statement issued by the State Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, all public service employees, regardless of grade level, have been directed to resume normal working hours from Monday to Friday.
“The government appreciates the significant investment in workers’ welfare and recognizes their notable contributions to the state’s economy,” the statement added.
The Work-From-Home policy, which commenced on September 9, 2024, and was extended to January 11, 2025, allowed employees to work remotely for one to three days per week, depending on their grade level.
The cancellation marks a return to standard operations in the public service as the state continues efforts to improve the welfare and productivity of its workforce.
