Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, is attending the 27th INTERPOL African Regional Conference in South Africa, a gathering of more than 200 police chiefs and security leaders from 56 countries.

The conference is focusing on strengthening international cooperation against transnational crime, enhancing intelligence-sharing, and improving strategies for cross-border policing.

Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the IGP is actively engaging in high-level discussions on terrorism financing and emerging global threats. “The Nigeria Police Force reiterates its resolve to remain an active and reliable partner in international law enforcement efforts while continuing to safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians at home and abroad,” he stated.

Egbetokun is also expected to present a paper on “Cattle Theft in West Africa: A Conduit for Terrorism and CBRNE Threats,” highlighting the connection between organized crime, terrorism, and the risks of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) threats.

On the sidelines, the police chief will hold bilateral meetings with INTERPOL President, Major General Naser Alraisi, and Secretary General, Valdecy Urquiza, to strengthen operational partnerships, intelligence exchange, and mutual legal assistance.
