Eedris Abdulkareem Urges Leaders To Show Empathy In Life If They Desire Sympathy In Death

Veteran rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has weighed in on the public’s divided response to the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, stressing that Nigerian leaders must live with empathy if they hope to be remembered with compassion.
Buhari passed away on Sunday afternoon in a UK clinic, reportedly after a battle with leukemia. While tributes have poured in from political allies, many Nigerians have instead voiced harsh criticisms, pointing to what they see as his failures in office.
Former senator Shehu Sani had earlier appealed to Nigerians to forgive Buhari’s imperfections, writing on social media: “A living man is still on trial and cannot judge the dead. Let the sleeping soul rest.”
Responding via Instagram, Eedris Abdulkareem offered a pointed message to those in power:
“If you want sympathy in death, then you must show empathy when alive.
Your legacies after life are consequences of your deeds.
Innalilahi wa innalilahi raji’un.”
