Ebonyi Speaker Hails Governor Nwifuru Over Minimum Wage Increment

The Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Moses Ije Odunwa, has commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for approving an additional ₦20,000 increase in the minimum wage for state workers.
The governor made the announcement during the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. The increment applies across board and is expected to significantly impact the welfare of civil servants in the state.
Reacting to the development, Chief Odunwa described the move as a major boost to workers’ morale and a step that would enhance productivity, improve living standards, and contribute to overall economic growth.
“Let me commend His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Bldr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for finding it necessary at this point to increase the worker’s salary. Indeed, this increment will not only prop up economic growth and development, but will go a long way in boosting the morale of workers, enhance productivity, and improves the standard of living,” Odunwa said.
He added that the governor’s action reflects his humanitarian approach to governance and aligns with the People’s Charter of Needs Mantra and the guiding principles of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“This humanitarian disposition of His Excellency is inline with the People’s Charter of Needs Mantra. I am glad that the Governor has not only made the Party proud, but Ebonyians at large are very proud,” he stated.
The Speaker also congratulated workers in the state, urging them to reciprocate the gesture through dedication to duty.
“On behalf of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, I salute His Excellency for this compassionate act. Let me also congratulate the workers of Ebonyi State, and equally urge them to respond to this thoughtful act of His Excellency, by being devoted to work at all times,” he added.
