Ebonyi Speaker Decorated as NDLEA Ambassador, Pledges Support in Drug Fight

The Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Moses Ije Odunwa, yesterday, has been decorated as an NDLEA Ambassador for his commitment to the fight against drug abuse.
This took place when the agency visited him at the Legislative Complex, Nkaliki Road, Abakaliki.
During the visit, Chief Odunwa pledged the Assembly’s full cooperation in ensuring that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) reaches the grassroots. He assured them of his full support.
He further commended the NDLEA for prioritizing the welfare of the people and assured them of his availability to provide any necessary assistance that may help in achieving their goals.
Chief Odunwa described the visit as timely one, especially at a time when there is rise in drug-induced crimes in the state. He preached the need for collective efforts to curb the menace.
“Ordinarily, one wouldn’t have come up, bear a gun and start shooting innocent people that you don’t have any case with, except when one is under the influence of drugs. So, your visit is very timely.” He said.
The NDLEA State Commander, Mr. Peter Ogar, also praised the Speaker’s leadership and the cordial relationship between the legislative and executive arms. He called for stronger collaboration to combat drug abuse.
The event was marked by the decoration of Chief Odunwa as an NDLEA Ambassador, in recognition of his support and commitment to the fulfillment of the agency’s mission in Ebonyi State.
