Ebonyi Rep Member Threatens Constituent for Supporting Charity Foundation

A member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Chinedu Ogah (OON), representing the Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State, has been accused of issuing a death threat to one of his constituents, Mr. Oliver Nwanchor, over alleged political differences.
Mr. Nwanchor, a commercial motorcyclist and native of Ndiegu Amagu in Ikwo Local Government Area, revealed during a media chat with Asiwaju Media that he received a disturbing early-morning phone call from Honourable Ogah on Monday
According to Mr. Nwanchor, while on his way to earn a living for his family, he received a call from Honourable Ogah, warning him to desist from actions that could be interpreted as sabotaging the lawmaker’s political interests. Nwanchor claimed Ogah warned that “any repercussion emanating from such act will be tough and unbearable.”
Responding to a question on whether he had any prior political affiliation with the lawmaker, Nwanchor admitted to working for Ogah during the last general elections, alleging he was part of a team that helped rig the election in Ogah’s favour at the ward level.

However, he said he distanced himself from Ogah post-election due to the lawmaker’s “alleged diabolic disposition” and “uncontrollable thirst for power.”
He further accused Honourable Ogah of using intimidation tactics to silence voices that do not align with his political camp, especially in Ndegu Amagu and neighbouring communities, describing him as “a growing security threat” in the area.
“I believe this threat is coming because I have been supporting and promoting the works of the C-Sagas Humanitarian Foundation, founded by Arc. Christian Asaga Nwali, who is my relation,” Mr. Nwanchor said. “The foundation is doing great work for the people, and I see no reason not to support it.”
Nwanchor said his involvement with the NGO, which has recently gained popularity in Ebonyi State, is purely humanitarian and should not be seen as a political affront to Honourable Ogah.
He called on security agencies and civil rights groups to investigate and curtail what he described as Ogah’s “abuse of political power” and continued “violations of the right to freedom of association.”
He also shared a text message he sent to the lawmaker after the alleged call, which reads in part:
“Dear Chief Chinedu Ogah (OON), I have heard all you said. No problem, and thank you so much. But bear in mind that I am not sabotaging your political ambition. I am only involved in running an NGO with High Chief Christian Nwali Asaga, my relation. You also did that before turning it into politics. I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong. You shouldn’t be threatening me, for God’s sake.”
As at the time of this report, Honourable Chinedu Ogah has not responded to requests for comment regarding the allegations.
