Ebonyi LG Officials Plan Solidarity March for Nwifuru

The forum of Management Committee members, Ebonyi State, has set aside Friday, 5th September 2025 to embark on solidarity road march in appreciation of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s achievements, policies and programs in Ebonyi State since his enthronement as the Governor of the State.

The Chairman of the Forum, Comr Nkwuda Friday, disclosed this in Abakaliki metropolis to Naija news today on 3rd September 2025.

According to the Chairman, he disclosed that the solidary road march was aimed by the Management Committee members to show their loyalty, and support to His Excellency Rt Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru FNIOB FCAI GGCEHF for his developmental strides and remarkable achievements and appreciate him, specially, for the increment in the salary structures of political office holders at the local government which they benefited.

“Given the excellent achievements of His Excellency, and his approval for the increment of political office holders at the local government which the Management Committee Members was a beneficiary, it became imperative to show appreciation to His Excellency and reiterate our continued support and loyalty. His Excellency has achieved a lot in the area of workers welfare, employment opportunities, empowerment of the youths, Scholarship, Road network, Health and other basic infrastructures. These laudable achievements are worthwhile and as his subjects, we need to show appreciation as it will enable him have the courage to do more for Ebonyi people”

According to the Chairman, the necessary logistics needed to ensure the success of the solidarity walk has been put in place, including notifying the security agents. He emphasized the needs for Ebonyians to continue supporting the Governor to achieve his people’s charter of needs mantra and expressed optimism that Ebonyi State would stand out as the best among her equals in terms of infrastructure, basic amenities, human capital development, Commerce, health and education.

Comr Nkwuda further disclosed that, the take off point for the exercise would be at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, while they traverse Onwe Road, to Akanu Ibiam Flyover and down to Centenary City, Governor’s office.

Earlier, the Ebonyi State House of Assembly through a request by the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru FNIOB FCAI GGCEHF, repelled the law establishing Local Government Area’s and Development Centres, re-enacted and upwardly reviewed the salary structures and allowances of Local Government Areas officeholders, including Management Committee members and councillors to mitigate the economy realities and empower the people in line with the mantra of the governor.

Recall that, Management Committee member was created pursuant to Ebonyi State House of Assembly Local Government Areas and Development Centre law 004 2008 which has been amended in some parts, repelled and re-enacted. The Management Committee members are the closest representative of the government at the grassroot level and work together with Development Centre coordinator to stepping down development to rural areas.

Development Centres was established under the first civilian Governor of Ebonyi State, Sen Dr Sam Egwu in his efforts to demystify governance and bring government closer to the people to attend their needs.
