Ebonyi graduate treks to Lagos to meet Afrobeats star Davido

An Ebonyi-born graduate, Nworie Obinna Jasper, is trekking from Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State to Lagos in a bid to meet and take a photograph with Afrobeats star Davido.
Mr Jasper, a graduate of Animal Science from Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, embarked on the journey on foot and remains on the road as of the time of filing this report.
The trek, which has attracted attention on social media, has generated widespread reactions, with users sharing videos and photographs documenting his movement across communities along the route.
Mr Jasper said the decision to undertake the journey was inspired by his admiration for the musician’s career and personal story, which he described as a source of motivation for many young Nigerians.
“This journey is about determination and believing in one’s dreams,” he said. “Meeting Davido and taking a picture with him will mean a lot to me.”
While some Nigerians have applauded his resolve, others have expressed concerns over the risks associated with trekking such a long distance.
As of press time, it remained unclear when Mr Jasper would arrive in Lagos or whether he would secure a meeting with the award-winning singer. However, his ongoing trek has continued to fuel conversations around youth aspiration, celebrity influence and the challenges facing young Nigerians.
The distance between Ebonyi State and Lagos runs into several hundred kilometres, making the journey a physically demanding undertaking.
