Ebonyi Govt Warns Legacy FM GM Over Alleged Incitement Against Governor Nwifuru

The Ebonyi State Government has cautioned the General Manager of Legacy FM, Odoh Godfrey Chikwere, over what it described as repeated attempts to incite the public against Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and his administration.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr. Chief Ikeuwa Omebeh, the government expressed “furious discontent” over remarks allegedly made by Chikwere on social media and during a radio programme, in which he reportedly described the governor as “a weak leader” and members of his cabinet as “kindergarten commissioners.”
Omebeh condemned the comments as “insensitive, derogatory, and abusive,” insisting they amount to “an affront on the sensibility and collective identity of Ebonyi State.”
“Mistaking the kindness and generosity of a humane governor for weakness is an act of ingratitude,” the statement read. “Your persistent attitude of casting aspersions and making libellous publications against the state government cannot be tolerated any longer.”
The commissioner reminded Chikwere, whom he described as an “in-law to Ebonyi State,” to use his platforms to “educate and unite rather than segregate and incite hatred.” He stressed that while the government welcomes constructive criticism in a democracy, it will not condone actions aimed at sowing division or undermining leadership.
Omebeh also called on Ebonyi residents to “disregard and discountenance” Chikwere’s comments, which he claimed were “deliberately fabricated to sway public opinion away from the governor’s achievements.”
“Ebonyi people are peace-loving and will continue to support the governor’s efforts to entrench lasting peace,” he added.
