DUFUTH Activates Four Primary Health Centres Across Ebonyi State

In a major step toward improving rural healthcare delivery, the David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital (DUFUTH), Uburu, has officially activated four primary healthcare centres across Ebonyi State.
The facilities, located in Umuka, Ugwulangwu, Ngbo, and Nwofe communities, are part of a strategic pilot initiative by the teaching hospital aimed at expanding access to quality healthcare in underserved areas.
The Chief Medical Director of DUFUTH, Prof. Uzoma Agwu, disclosed this during a free medical outreach organized by the hospital, which provided health services and sensitization to over 8,000 residents across the four communities.
Leading a delegation of senior DUFUTH officials, Prof. Agwu embarked on a series of visits to traditional leaders and stakeholders, including His Royal Highness Eze Cosmos Agwu of Umuka Okposi on August 5, where she reaffirmed DUFUTH’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare delivery in the state.
On August 12, Prof. Agwu also paid courtesy visits to Eze Richard Iyioku and Eze Frank Agueze of Ugwulangwu. During the visit, she announced the introduction of a Priority Access Card for members of royal families to ensure prompt and seamless medical attention.
In a significant development, Prof. Agwu revealed plans to establish a permanent campus of the DUFUTH College of Health Technology in the Ohaozara axis, a move expected to boost training capacity and healthcare manpower in the region.
During a visit to Ezeogo Godwin Omogo at Ngbo on August 19, the CMD highlighted that the revitalized health centre has not only enhanced local healthcare access but has also created job opportunities and stimulated the local economy.
The community engagement and outreach efforts mark a key milestone in DUFUTH’s broader mission to deliver accessible, efficient, and people-centered healthcare services in Ebonyi State and beyond.
