Davido to Sue K24 TV Over Cocaine Arrest April Fools Hoax

Nigerian Afro singer Davido will be suing media platforms responsible for an “April Fools” joke alleging that he was arrested with cocaine in his private jet.
The award-winning singer called the fabrication of allegations of international crimes “extremely irresponsible,” regardless of the “April Fools” context.
Davido has instructed his lawyer to seek legal recourse.
In a statement released by the singer on his X account (formerly Twitter) in reaction to the April Fools joke, he explained that he has never been arrested for any crime within Nigeria or in any of the hundreds of countries he has visited.
He added that he completed his scheduled show in Uganda and Kenya and had since returned to Nigeria.
The prank has since generated a lot of reactions among Netizens, with some fans condemning the joke while others condemning the move by the Afrobeat singer.
“You are the one just telling us now! April Fool’s joke is April Fool’s joke! No legal team can win that for you. As far as they made it clear within that period”, a netizen with a verified account @Blaze_bezop
Another, netizen @KijanaYaa described the move by the celebrity as “pettiness”.
“K24 is owned by the Kenyatta family who are arguably richer than your entire generation. Thinking that a lawsuit will succeed against them is daydreaming. BTW you can focus this energy on stabilising electricity in Nigeria”, the user said.
The April Fool’s joke allegedly was initiated by K24 TV in Kenya.
